Overview

Veterinary Technician
● Small animal appointments
● Chart tech appts
● Client communication entries
● Inventory monitoring and communication with inventory manager on
inventory needs
● Call backs from previous sick appts
● Invoice client
● Properly restrain patients for examination and treatment
● Fill medications for appts in the building
● Provide services such as nail trims, vaccinations, injections, ear cleaning,
suture/staple removal, heartworm tests and anal sac expression
● Peform lab duties during appts and surgeries-bloodwork, eye tests,
radiology, in house labs like fecals, urinalysis and ear cytologies
● Conclude appointment by reviewing prescribed medication, products and
diets
● Manage controlled drug log book
● Fill out labwork papers correctly
● Manage hospitalized patients as needed
● Read and interpret patient chart and ICU sheet, perform required treatments,
and follow veterinarian’s orders accurately
● Collect samples for outhouse labs and communicate with Tech manager
● Dental prophies and dental equipment maintenance
● Know and use appropriate safety precautions for radiology
● Calculate and administer pre-anesthetic injection, induce anesthesia,
intubate, and prepare patient for routine surgeries.
● Admit patients and review pre-anesthetic lab work recommendations with
client
● Know and use appropriate safety precautions for gas anesthesia and dentistry
● Monitor and recover patient using required checklist
● Release patients and review with clients, prepare discharge instructions and
review with clients

 

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

1 years RVT experience

Required Education Level : Associate's Degree
